Q. What is the Statement of Proposals?

The Statement of Proposals is an important document that:

. Provides an opportunity for the community to gain an insight into the major challenges and opportunities facing Logan City.

. Enables the community to better understand the future challenges and Council proposals to manage growth and change for the benefit of the new greater Logan.

. Sets out Logan City's broad land use strategies.

. Provides the opportunity for the community to make an important contribution to the process of deciding how the identified challenges and issues for Logan City can be addressed through the new Logan City Planning Scheme.

Q. Why do we have the Statement of Proposals?

Logan City Council is required by the under Schedule 1, Section 2.1.5 of the Integrated Planning Act 1997 to produce a Statement of Proposals to:

(a) Identify matters the local government anticipates the new planning scheme will address

(b) State how the local government intends to address each core matter (including its component parts) in preparing the planning scheme, and

(c) If the local government is in a designated region - state how the local government anticipates the new planning scheme will reflect the region's regional plan.

Q. Where can I view the Statement of Proposals?

Copies of the Statement of Proposals are available from the following venues until 23 October 2009 for viewing or to collect a hard copy.

Logan City Council Administration Centre, 150 Wembley Road, Logan Central (8am-5pm Monday to Friday)

Beenleigh Customer Service Centre, 58-60 Manila Street, Beenleigh (8.15am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday)

Jimboomba Customer Services Centre 18-22 Honora Street Jimboomba
(8am - 4.45pm Monday to Friday)

Q. How do the local plans fit with the Statement of Proposals?

The Local Plans for Springwood, Jimboomba, Beenleigh, Logan Central and Logan Village, and the Statement of Proposals are components that will go into the overall new Planning Scheme for Logan City.

Q. When does the public consultation period for the Statement of Proposals end?

Copies of the Statement of Proposals are available until 23 October 2009 for viewing or to collect a hard copy from Logan City Council's Customer Service Centres at Logan City, Beenleigh and Jimboomba. An electronic version is available on Council's website under 'Have Your Say' or in the 'library' on this website (Bang the Table).

Q. When will the new Planning Scheme be implemented?

Council is working on a timeline to complete its Planning Scheme during 2010.
