The final proposal for heavy vehicle parking on roads and premises is available for viewing. Please go to 'library'.
Council solicitors will draft the proposed local law and it will be released early this year for formal community consultation.
Background : The community consultation on heavy vehicle parking welcomed comment from residents on the size of the property the law should apply to, the weight of the vehicle, the distance from neighbours, the requirements for crossovers, proposed fees, operating hours, idling limits, landscaping rules, and any other issues. Consultation closed on 28 August 2009. A Heavy Vehicle Parking Advisory Working Group was then established to further discuss options for the new law.

Should Logan City Council weigh neighbourhood and livelihood equally?
Logan City Council wants to minimise the affect on the neighbourhood but still take into account the need for owners/drivers of heavy vehicles to have a livelihood. Do you agree?

Should land size be a major consideration in heavy vehicle parking laws?
The former Logan did not require a licence if your property was bigger than 4,500m2. The former Gold Coast had no set limit and all landowners had to have a licence to park a heavy vehicle. What are your thoughts on land size? What should it be?

What about Camper/RV with a GVM of more than 4.5ton
I have an RV/Camper truck which has a register GVM of more than 4.5ton even though it is only about 0.5m longer than a Land Cruiser and the same length as a F350. According to this new law I will have to now apply to have my "truck" parked at my own home. Surely this was not the intent of the law.
