Hornsby Shire Council

This online discussion forum has concluded. You can still browse the site but the discussion area will no longer accept new comments or votes.

A copy of the Final Report advising on the findings of this community consultation is now attached in the library section. This report is being forwarded for Councillor consideration at the Ordinary Council meeting on 21st April.

Hornsby Council is moving forward on determining the future uses for Old Mans Valley in Hornsby. These lands, which form part of a larger parcel of open space within the area, occur roughly between Hornsby Aquatic Centre/TAFE and Hornsby Quarry and provide a good opportunity to develop a range of recreation facilities, based on known recreation demands. Images indicating the location of the study area can be found in the photographs on the right of this page.

THERE IS NEW INFORMATION IN THE LIBRARY INDICATING THE OUTCOMES OF THE DELIBERATIVE FORUM. IT INDICATES THE OUTCOME OF THIS FORUM'S CONSIDERED ASSESSMENT OF THE ISSUES FOLLOWING AN ALL DAY SESSION REVIEWING THE SITE AND DISCUSSING ISSUES ON 14 MARCH 2010. INFORMATION ADDED ON 25 MARCH.

Council has recently confirmed that this land is to remain as open space for recreation development. In resolving to develop a landscape masterplan for the site, Council is seeking community input to assist in determining the most appropriate balance of recreation uses. These are expected to include uses that require large areas of open space such as sportsgrounds, parklands and playgrounds and trails.

The development of a masterplan for the site is expected to inform Council in its preparation of a Plan of Management that will be the formal policy document that will guide the future uses and development of the Old Mans Valley.
