Projects

We are hard at work building a new projects page. In the meantime here are just a few of our current projects.

Return to Royal Park

Return to Royal Park

The City of Melbourne and the Department of Health are working together on "Return to Royal Park", a project to reinstate parkland on the site of the old Royal Children's Hospital, on the corner of Gatehouse Street and Flemington Road, Parkville. Council and the Department will be consulting with the community and interested groups to understand their ideas and vision for the parkland. The outcome of the first phase of community consultation will be a shared vision for the parkland which will be used to develop an ideas plan.

Port Metro Vancouver Low Level Road

Port Metro Vancouver Low Level Road

Port Metro Vancouver is proposing to construct a new low level road designed to meet expected demands as international trade continues to grow and address long-standing community concerns along the existing Low Level Road. The road will also improve access to port facilities; accommodate future planned rail expansion on the North Shore; address long-standing community safety and traffic congestion challenges in the area; and improve slope stability and reduce train-related noise.
Melbourne's Urban Forest

Melbourne's Urban Forest

Melbourne's tree population is vast – we have 60,000 council owned trees, worth around $650million. Trees are a defining part of Melbourne. We live in the world's most liveable city and our parks, gardens, green spaces and tree-lined streets contribute enormously to this status. But the trees are now under threat. More than a decade of drought, severe water restrictions and periods of extreme heat, combined with an ageing tree stock have put our trees under immense stress and many are now in a state of accelerated decline. The City of Melbourne's draft Urban Forest Strategy provides a robust strategic framework for the evolution and longevity of Melbourne's urban forest.
Your Say Bunbury

Your Say Bunbury

The Western Australian coastal city of Bunbury has launched its online consultation portal with a discussion about its 20 year strategic plan. The city is inviting anyone who lives, plays, learns, works or invests in Bunbury to have a say in shaping the city’s future. As the City provides over 150 services and products, it’s vital that it continually improves the way it does things, so community feedback is critically important.
Your Say Marrickville

Your Say Marrickville

Council has been consulting the Marrickville community about the new library since April 2011. The local community has told Council that the new Library should include features and services such as meeting rooms, an auditorium, and a café and that the building should be iconic and a focal point and hub for the community. In order to provide the kind of new Library the community wants, Council will need to raise a total of $30 million. Seven million dollars has already been earmarked from Council reserves. To raise the additional $23 million, Council is proposing a special rate increase of 6.72%.
Your Say Warringah

Your Say Warringah

The four councils of Mosman, Manly, Warringah and Pittwater (the SHOROC councils) have agreed to change the way waste is collected across their council areas. The new system will be phased in by 2014-15 and will increase our recycling, keep costs to ratepayers down and be easy to use.
