On 7 July Council adopted a concept plan for major improvements to the Singleton CBD Streetscape. Before any further investigation or design work is carried out on this project Council resolved to undertake an extensive consultation process with the community.
The cost of works for the project as envisaged in the concept plan will be in the vicinity of $6.68 million. The plan proposes a new vision for the CBD of Singleton that will make the CBD a place of vibrancy and positive social interaction for the local community and visitors to Singleton for many years to come. It aims to encourage growth and sustainability of business activity within the area.
All members of the community are encouraged to participate in the consultation process.

Project funding
If Council borrowed funds to pay for this project to be completed in 2-3 years would you be prepared to pay up to $30 per year in additional rates for 15 years to repay the loan?

Timing of the project
The Singleton CBD Streetscape has been progressively improved in recent years, but it still lacks something. Should Singleton Council accelerate this project over a 2-3 year period to achieve a far better CBD for both business and the community?

Have your Say about "The Singleton Streetscape Regeneration Project (John Street)"
The Singleton Council are Planning a MAJOR Regeneration Project of John Street Singleton.
Now this will affect us ALL who live in Singleton, whether you OWN or RENT a place as the Council has suggested an INCREASE in RATES to pay for the Project.
Now it would be great if the Council knew what the Community thought of this idea.
So here's your chance:-
To the Project to Go AHEAD then Vote "AGREE"
OR
To have the Project ABANDONED then Vote "DISAGREE"
This way it is a fair and accurate VOTE from the Community.

Vote YES if you want this project to be abandoned!
There has to be some way the community can VOTE NO?

Precincts - which areas should we spruce up first?
Not sure how well this will work, but let's give it a go. :)
Even if you don't approve of the concept plan, let's see what areas people think need the work.
Of the 6 precincts in the concept plan, let's just say that only 3 can be funded.
Everyone have 3 votes to agree and 3 votes to disagree - 1 for each precinct. You can put comments under each area.

Has any one of you done the Math.
$30 per year for 15 years for each rate payer.
Total $450 for the 15years.
0.5769 cents per week, or 0.0824 cents per day.
I dont think its to much to ask, do you?

Will the propsed plan stop the leakage to out-of-town businesses?
Seems that a lot of folk for the project seem to think that this project will stop (or at least greatly reduce) *leakage* of local dollars to other places?
What do you think?
