Willoughby City Council has prepared a draft Smoke-Free Environment Policy banning smoking from designated areas in accordance with the Heart Foundation’s guidelines for council's. A copy of the policy can be veiewd under "Library" as can the recent report to Council.
In implementing Council's Smoke-free Policy, a program of community education and awareness specifically targeting residents and day visitors, will be undertaken. Enforcement of this Policy will be supported by persuasion and self-policing, rather than punitive enforcement.
Attached is a copy of the draft Smoke-Free Environment Policy which is open for comment until 22 April 2010. If you would like to make a formal comment you can write to the General Manager, Willoughby City Council, PO Box 57, Chatswood NSW 2057 or email@willoughby.nsw.gov.au.
