'Sustainable Futures' - Tourism in the Southern Highlands

Wingecarribee Shire Council

Tourism in the Southern Highlands is one of the Shires major economic and social drivers. It generates numerous benefits for both locals & visitors through its diverse range of attractions, activities and experiences via the use of its natural & man made infrastructure. But how sustainable is our local tourism industry?

Shire residents have proven their interest in being more sustainable through initiatives such as local markets & fairs, bush care and cottage industries.

Wingecarribee Shire Council would like to help tourism-related businesses live up to best practice values through sustainability initiatives. A new program is to be introduced that develops customised Sustainability Action Plans using State Government Department of Environment, Climate Change & Water assessment tools and funding. This program is designed to support business operators by providing focused information sessions and access to resource efficiency advice. Please participate in the following questionnaire to help us assess what is important about the Sustainable Futures Program to local business.

If you are a tourism related business in the Southern Highlands and are interested in participating in this project please send an email with your contact details through by clicking the email link below and mention the Sustainable Futures project.
