Implementation costs, excluding private sector investment are estimated at $75million. Sounds like a lot, but can the Clarence Valley afford not to do it?

M04 CRW Masterplan Strategies & Actions (3.403 MB)
Comment 1 22 Oct 2008, 5:24 PM
The $75M price tag does not belong to CVC alone. Encouraging tourism is a national objective, as is the maintenance and protection of heritage and waterways. With this masterplan, CVC should be able to prioritise developments and develop a project implementation plan with costs, over a period of say 5 years. If CVC is serious about the CRW, then CVC needs to assign responsibility and accountability to a project manager (internal or external) who can follow through on all sources of funding, resolve conflicts between stakeholders, and seek the assistance of the Planning Minister in gaining planning approvals where these are outside the juridiction of CVC.
Well done CVC, when the comments have been gathered, lets finalise the plan and follow through.

I agree Bruce this project will benefit the State and the nation. CVC and its rate payers should not have to pay the whole bill

CRUISING THE CLARENCE RIVER.
The Clarence River Yacht Club has just hosted two yacht cruises on the river. The first was a cruise from Grafton to Iluka and return with 20 trailer yachts. We travelled in convoy visiting establishments at Ulmarra,Brushgrove,Lawrence,Maclean,Harwood,Iluka and Yamba. This took a week and we visited the Hotels and Towns from the River. The welcome and hospitality of locals was great.
BUT the access to these locations showed the need for jetties and mooring facilities. There are no toilet pump out facilities or locations where visitors can shower, other than at Yamba.
The Harwood bridge was opened for more…

I am the owner of the yacht Kirralaa that sailed from Sydney to Grafton in company with a number of other yachts from the Coastal Cruising Club of Australia for the Jacaranda festival. I would like to firstly say what a wonderful time we had on the Clarence River and your area is blessed by and abundance of scenic waterways and friendly people. I believe our club intends to make this cruise an annual event and due to its success many more boats are likely to participate in future.
From a yachtie's point of view the one downside of cruising the Clarence River is the lack of facilities for cruising yachts. Maclean has a jetty where its possible to go alongside and provision and get water however this was the only facility on the river suitable for yachts and nowhere did we see public showers.
My belief is that many more yachts would visit this area if facilities were provided. Please take this as positive feedback as you have a wonderful river and improved boating facilities can only encourage more yachts to visit

The river is a beautiful place to sail on but I am concerned about the following :
1. The boat ramp at Lawrence is inaccessible to sailors due to the poor placement of overhead power lines.2. Safe parking of cars and trailers at boat ramps.3.The lack of access to towns along the way.( Brushgrove has no access and Ulmarra have limited access in certain weather.)
