Broadmeadow will loose fast direct services as on the new proposal the 226 will go 349 and 322. I am a resident and catch buses to work and have for 30years and require all fast and direct routes availiable now asI may have to work in any branch/suburb. I urge you to consider that Broadmeaow is a central mager area and have a mager train station requiring connecting bus services. also schools must be considered and the 226 from broadmeadow to waratah high is a must for local children do not delete this route it is also the route to the local shopping centre for broadmeadow locals for weekly groceries at waratah shopping village. If anything need more routes and buses through broadmeadow not taken away add fast and direct routes for outlying districts do not take required existing routes away and make life harder for the public that require the services they are using now .

The 322 will remain in Broadmeadow - that is a false statement. The 226 is being transferred to the 200 which will pass by Hamilton Station, only a little extra for train travellers.

The 322 will still be a bus route yes but it is a completely new route I think what the original poster meant was keep the 322 as it is. Under the new 322 route the original poster is losing a direct fast route to Charlestownt that is currently provided by the 349/350 and also losing a fast direct route to Westfield Kotara that is currently provided by the 322. So the post was not in fact a false statement at all.
The 200 does not replace the 226 completely because, as the original poster pointed out, it no longer comes into broadmeadow meaning that broadmeadow residents will not have a direct link to waratah.
As my son will attend school at waratah next year he will not have transport directly to school and this is a problem.

I take back my comment on the direct route to Westfield Kotara as I see the 317 has been redirected to that route.
P.S To the admin it would be handy if you could edit posts.

Hi meljmiller - yes, the ability to edit posts is something we are looking to add in the next phase of site development.

it dosnt help me if there is a 226 changed to a 200 it does not run through broadmeadow and there is no direct link between broadmeadow and waratah and I am also thinking of school children as well who need to go to waratah high or anyone needing to go to waratah village for shopping and the proposal said it will give quicker routes etc but if we are losing a service then how can it be quicker
as for the 322 yes it remains but is a different route and does not go to westfeild kotara used to get me there in 10 minutes so is not the same rout at present
Comment 1.2.1 24 Nov 2007, 6:56 PM
As we said, the 317 will go the way the 322 goes now, so it will still only take 10 minutes to get to Kotara.
It is unfortunate that the Waratah link may be lost, it's been there since tram days. Maybe if the 200 is going to be half-hourly, every second trip could still go via Broadmeadow (with a different number) to retain an hourly service there?

This would be a great solution! I do hope they will consider something along these lines.

Umm do you actually ever try to use the buses and trains? This also takes from, yes takes from the hamilton and broadmeadow customers a vital service to the university.
Comment 1.3.1 4 Dec 2007, 9:38 AM
I'm not saying that the university is not important, but their are more important transport issues than having almost every available bus route go via the university.
The only buses that should go into the university grounds are those that terminate at the university. The through buses should go along University Drive, and stop outside the university.
Comment 1.3.1.1 4 Dec 2007, 4:49 PM
I don't agree with that. There's too much infrastructure within the Uni to take most of the services away from it. It would be an extra walk through the bush to University Dr, which would be horrid in wet weather. Plus, you'd need a lot of extra infrastructure and expense to create safe crossings and bus bays on that road. I think it would turn people off using public transport there, since services have gone through the grounds for over 10 years now.

Ok I was only focussing on the university to keep my response simple. It also takes from waratah and georgetown residents, and makes it difficult for connection between shopping centres. I make the point about the university because can you tell me where there is a bigger car park than that in Newcastle? And a bigger flow of commuters?
Comment 1.4 5 Dec 2007, 10:52 PM
And a little extra money to buy two non-transferrable tickets. only a little extra money too...... Or A LOT more if you are a typical commuter and have a stretched budget as it is!
