Revenue Mix

Council generates income from a variety of sources including rates, grants, waste income and more. Where do you think council should focus its efforts to increase income?

I did not know Council had waste income. I know there is lots of wasted expenditure.

There needs to be a major push on user pays especially where the facility or service is used by non ratepayers.

I think more revenue would be good (as I said somewhere else, sorry to repeat). But i dont like the idea of user pays. That is more pressure on the poorer. I would like to see development options lead revenue increases. Developer charges and redeveloping Newcastle sites would raise money

Thanks for the good example and importance of user pays Dipsy.

If we did not have user pays then YOU would be paying the developers costs.

That would certainly apply the blow tourch to the poorer members of our community.

With ideas like that may be you work in Government!!!

Remember Woolies runs a 100% user pays business. You use, you buy, you pay!!!! I have not seen you waving a sign at the Woolies door asking them to reduce user pays, raise revenue and rate you entry!!!
