Mining is still going to be a strong contributor to the community. BHCC need to get behind new mining developments and support existing mines. The next twenty years will see a shift from residentially based mines like perilya and CBH to more drive in drive out mines like bemax honeymoon and white dam. Broken Hill can become a hub for commuter mines like these. With the number of broken hill people who commute to roxby downs to work at olympic dam BHCC should also try to foster the development of a direct air link to roxby.

One thing Broken hill could offer to help encourage development and improve the economy and bring jobs to the town is why not zone certain areas owned by the council for industrial and commercial development and offer it for free to large companies. Broken Hill has a lot of open space that could be used. With some advertising and by putting Broken Hill out there that its open for business and wanting to welcome large companies free land. That could attract some attention. Sure giving land away may seem a loss, but not really!. If it could bring companies to set up shop to be hear to stay, employ locals and provide jobs for future generations or even make people move to Broken Hill, It will give the town something to go on with. The Mines play a big part in Broken Hill but we cant rely on them forever. We should look at the town as if the mines will all be shutting down within the next couple of years and leaving everyone behind thinking what are we gonna do now. This could be something worth thinking about.

This is what KANANDAH Road was supposed to be for, but the Labour Councilors and Peter Black soon put paid to this, Unions and the Black Labour Councilors put to many restrictions and hurdles in front of developers, that made it easier for them to go else where. It would take a lot to encourage developers back with the Fear of Councilors and Unions blocking whatever they propose, Ohhhh and I also forgot we the Broken Hill Rate Payers can do nothing in our Town unless Bankstown City Council approves it?????????????? Why
