the council have lost the basic reason for truck drivers taking home their vehicles and that is the alternative is to leave a $100000 dollar plus truck in a unlight street. ask any councillor whould he or she buy a new merc and leave it on the same streets as we are expected to leave our trucks on .i will guarantee the answer will be NO I do agree that trucks should be regulated in suberbia but if everybody abides by the basic rules on hours and noise there should be no problems.every week i have a smelly noisy truck speeding up my street making noise at 6am its called a garbage truck but i dont see the council boys doing anything about it

I have managed for 25 years to have a heavy vehicle at home without causing distress to my valued neighbours, they are all friends & as such I care for their wellbeing & they return the sentiment.
When Logan required me to park the truck in a "designated area" & it was vandalised ,those neighbours told me to bring it back home & worry about the council later.
Well it looks like later is here but I would wager that neither the council OR any of those people who would have me park on the side of a back-street more…

Hi Bones611,
I have the same problem. I park in my driverway at approx. 5- 5.00pm and leave at 5am in the morning. My truck has been vandalised by parking in the street. It is too far for me to park at work, as we have only one car. The council needs to way up each case and then make a ruling on thast truck.

Hopefully cr phil pidgen is reading these comments as until recently he claimed he knew nothing about whats been happening to the trucks/trailers parked in logan city councils heavy vehicle parking area's claiming he would need some proof before he could take it to the council as they couldn't just take my word for it .
Proof was forwarded via email and he has told me he is getting the lighting looked into .
I doubt we'll see better lighting down there & the same Sh*t will keep on going on .
Most people who drive single's & B-Double's local & interstate know more…

Exactly why I park my truck at home!!! I didn't mortgage my house to start my business just so some little barstard can relieve his boredom by vandalizing my truck. I will not be paying any fee to anyone. Fullstop
Comment 2.1.1 23 Jul 2009, 5:06 PM
and why i park my truck at home.
if this council wants to move my truck then they will be buying my house for market value plus paying me to move.
until then they can concentrate on their next pay rise!!!!
and leave the battlers alone

Exactly the type of mentality and tunnel vision we see from people who expect the community and Council cater for their needs and selfishness. Heavy vehicles being parked in residential areas is a blight on our community and the Council is rightfully changing this law to comply with the wishes and needs of the greater community.
Comment 2.1.3 26 Jul 2009, 11:32 AM
I guess you think that the use of mis-spelt foul language will score you points in this debate. Wrong...the truth is if you park a heavy vehicle in a residential area you will be paying a fee. Fullstop.
Comment 2.1.3.1 27 Jul 2009, 12:45 PM
It is being parked ON MY OWN PROPERTY. I'm sure you would like to be charged for parking your car, boat, box trailer or caravan on your own property? It is DISCRIMINATION against small business owners who try to earn a living from home. Talk about the wishes and needs of the greater community, how many councilors help their neighbours move heavy items for nothing?
Comment 2.1.3.2 18 Aug 2009, 3:32 PM
No, I didn't actually, but thanks for letting me know I mis-pelt it. Also,we don't live in a residential estate. Oh, have you heard the latest? Council are proposing a new law that will require anyone who has nothing better to do than assume that other people are beneath them and who may not realise it yet, but we will not be paying anything, will have to pay a fee for an application for a license to mouth off. AWW, that's not fair! No, it ain't, and niether is this. They can't get what we ain't got. Shockin' grammar ay?

Heavy vehicles should be parked outside of residential areas...full stop. The owners of these vehicles should join the rest of us and find there own way to work and not expect for everyone else to suffer because they wish to have their trucks parked at home. These people should not expect Council to find alternatives for them, if that were the case we would all expect Council to find ways for us to get to work. Wake up...and do the right thing, park your heavy vehicles where they belong, far away from residential areas.

When I get into my small truck (just over the weight limit),I AM AT WORK....I have no base to work out of. My business is run from home. I don't think the council will provide anywhere secure for me to park and also pick me up and drive me home. Why can't I park ON MY OWN PROPERTY if I disturb no-one? Half my neighbours have had their furniture moved by the neighbourhood truck, mine. Many cars are noisier than a lot of trucks. Leave us truckies alone, we're finding it hard to make a living as it is.
Comment 3.1.1 27 Jul 2009, 12:23 PM
Just because it is parked at home is no guarantee that it will not be vandalised unless of cause it is locked away. Why should the council be responsible for anyone getting to and from work remember the council are the residents and any cost associated with them providing such a service would come from all rate payers. How do you know you don't disturb anyone just because your immediate neighbours say you don't what about others not immediately near who may be affected by issues such as noise. What about the neighbours you drive past in order to get more…
Comment 3.1.1.1 27 Jul 2009, 1:10 PM
Are we to complain to the council regarding the noise from busses, garbage trucks, local delivery trucks/vans and every noisy car and motorbike that drives past our house, or is just the owner driver, who has his business registered at his home address (legally). What excessive loads? Trucks are only parked on private property when empty anyway, at the end of every day. I'm not talking about huge Semi Trailers, but the smaller rigid trucks, the ones that fit in residential yards. They disturb no-one, we have asked in the neighbourhood. We don't want a bitch fight, we just want this looked at with logic and common sense, we are not the ones being selfish. Please try to see the outcome, if truck drivers are charged for applications and permits, prices would go up for everything carried on trucks, at the expense of us all.
Comment 3.1.1.1.1 27 Jul 2009, 3:11 PM
Vehicles eg buses garbage trucks local delivery provide a service for the immediate community and are not using the area as a place for storeage of the vehicle. Besides they have set times and when did one of them come and go early in the morning or late at night. In relation to noisy cars and bikes there are issues with them and once again they can be dealt with if excessive. This is entirely a separate issue anyway and not under the ambit of this investigation. Noisy bikes and cars are a matter for the police and therefore a more…

You have a right to complain about noise early in the morning and late at night - but not make all truckies pay for what a few cowboys do. They are not all the same. But why do they have to pay $900 for an application? I feel it's a bit over the top.
Comment 3.1.1.1.1.1.1 27 Jul 2009, 7:49 PM
Maybe you should get a breakdown of what that $900 covers I would guarantee like all government charges it would be excessive look at the new car registration fees for example. We all have to pay one way or the other and are all subject to unfair taxes and charges but we can't all claim unfair charges as a tax deduction. Once again the laws are to protect the majority, like any laws from the cowboys and any unsocial behaviour and we all have to live with that. I do feel for the truck drivers of these previous councils now forced into being part of Logan but at least Logan is trying to address their issues. Remember it was the state government that forced this onto everybody and now the council has to try and deal with it to the benefit of all parties.
Comment 3.2 28 Jul 2009, 12:24 PM
ggg,
I'm sure you drive to work and back in your car. Not every one has the luxury of having 2 cars, so they can left the truck "outside residential" areas. Also, truck drivers are only allowed so much time travelling per day, so it cuts into their work time.
Not every truck driver is a nuisance, How loud is your car? or people in the surrounding area with loud exhaust and motorbikes, should they also park outside residential areas.

Don't make assumptions about others when you know nothing about them we achieve nothing by mouthing off about others instead of sticking to the facts.
