I think the most appropriate use of this land is residential dwellings. Council could subdivide and sell the land then use the money raised to provide netball and basketball facilities at Tom Hunter Park where parking and toilets are already available.
I don't want Council to spend a lot of money on the development of the site if there are insufficient funds to cover running costs. The propsed maintenance arrangements outlined in the Draft Plan seem totally inadequate and I would be surprised if the parties using the courts would be prepared to keep the area free of rubbish and weeds.

I think the plan, as long as it has ongoing funding for maintenance etc, is good.
Currently, parking around the Aquatic/Fitness centre is dangerous (the street parking creates narrow roads and impinges on driver sight lines, bearing in mind many pedestrians are children or elderly). So additional parking would be good.
Secondly, there are insufficient netball courts at Summerhayes and the netballers have to share facilities with the soccer club. So additional netball courts locally would be beneficial.
Thirdly, teenage boys complain of having "nothing to do" (perennial complaint no matter where you go, no matter which era). BMCC has provided skateboard/bike ramps which are popular, but may not suit all of the cohort. I think basketball courts would be a welcome addition to free activities for young men in the area - perhaps encourage the youth centre to play a part in designing and decorating so young people in the area have buy in which may help to protect against vandalism.

A few points for your consideration. Yes, the parking is dangerous around the aquatic centre but do you really think the few extra spaces planned will accommodate that site as well as the extra traffic brought in by the proposed netball courts. Churchill St is already a very busy street, being a main thoroughfare for the estate behind Plateau and Coomassie Rds and is extremely dangerous to manouvre in with the traffic flying off the highway (yes screaching tyres etc on an all too regular basis).
Maybe it would be cheaper for council to build more facilities to share with the more…

This proposal is far too broad. Technically, there can be netabll or basketball played next door to houses until 10pm, seven days a week with all the associated traffic, parking issues, noise and light.
Sport is important but needs to be played where there is sufficient parking and room for traffic.
There are so many courts in the lower blue mountins already, this site would be far better used for other purposes that require less traffic and noise and don't need lighting at nights.
There is a lot of information missing from the Draft Plan, leaving it wide open for inappropriate use of the courts in the future. The consultation process needs to be extended and the council should provide the same level of detail they would expect from any other developer in a residential area.
