I think you can assume that the democratic process will indicate the preferred direction of the majority of residents - ie through elected representatives. If the council moves against the will of the majority, as it has done with the recent housing policy, then rest assured we will see many new concillors.

I believe the housing policy is something that the State government has imposed on the majority of Councils, not only Hornsby Council. However, you are correct in what you say regarding the democratic process of elections will tell Council whether it's doing a good job or not - spending millions on an equestrian facility for the few who can afford this type of lifestype whilst ignoring the rest of the community will not win points, eg, Berowra has been promised a community swimming pool for years, and each year it gets knocked back with a different excuse. Pleasing a few at the expense of the rest...good or bad? you decide!
