I believe that a fee is not unreasonable for commercial opperator to pay. However a flat fee of $30 PER use is not fair. Some boats only have 6 passengers and some boats have 100+ passengers. Some boats are 2 tonne some ar 200 tonne. There should be a fair system on size and weight and number of passengers.

We as boat owners wether we be private or commercial already pay huge fees for the use of facilities in all areas of nsw and this use should be included with those facilities. No justification for charges.

It should be noted that Licence fees for vessels are State Government Charges, not Local Government(Council). It is the Local Government which provides all the public facilities on Port Stephens.

I agree with the introduction of some sort of user pay fee. The important thing here is that this is a 'Public Wharf'. Commercial operators should have to pay to use a 'public' facility, but I agree that the fees should be fair and equitable. Commercial operators with larger vessels or more capacity should pay a higher rate than those with smaller vessels and less capacity.
