Hi Can anyone tell me how many of these new home sites in this plan are for housing commission or public housing.
With the advent of these new homes and anywhere up to 15,000 extra people in medowie, are there plans for full time police, fire and essential services such as high schools, hospitals and public transport.
No one seems to be able to tell me.

With the addition of quite a considerable number of houses, ergo additional bodies in Medowie, what is being done to beef up the local infrastructure ? including essential services and some of the nice to have not so essential eg shopping, child activity centres (eg cinema) etc. The level of crime by bored kids in medowie is already above acceptable, with the increased population surely this problem is only going to get worse.

I like the reduction in numbers of houses
I also like the reduced densities - the last draft looked like an inner city plan.
I'm a bit concerned about the reduction in parks, I do like having big parks as small ones are a bit pointless but the numbers are very reduced. Will facilities be provided in the parks? What thought has gone into what facilities will go where?
Overall an improvement.

Medowie is a unique rural area. I would not like to see it ruined by high density housing. I'm happy to see a decrease in the amount of smaller residential lots. Also great to have larger amount of open space and enviromental land made available.

I would hope that water and sewer services are going to be improved to first meet present needs as well as future needs, before embarking on further development. Lack of sufficient water pressure is still an issue as is the problems with storm water and sewer drainage.
The lack of public transport is of particular concern and is not adequate, in its present form, especially in considering plans for retirement living.
This brings to mind that the local doctors are overburdened and unable to service the current population as it is.
Also, may I suggest a public toilet for Medowie shopping area. I am surprised that this was not a part of the approval when BiLo was built.
Unfortunately, Medowie has a long history of suffering inadequate services and a lack of community facilities congruent with its growth. However, hopefully now, incorporated in this new plan will be these and many other much needed facilities, including emergency services, educational, recreational and social entertainment facilities. What plans are being made to address these issues?

The council has difficulty maintaining the current roads in Medowie what are the chances of them improving in the future. The development of a high school is 2 or 3 decades overdue and there are almost no non-sport facilities for young people or as previously stated transport to let them go to facilities elsewhere.

Hi, my names John Briggs, a Director of Advocate Developments. We have been proposing a development in Medowie that delivers quality shopping choice, community services including library, emergency services land , land for a licensed club & sporting facilities, a medical centre which has the strong support of Dr Raschke & Dr Sharrad Medowies two GPs, a transport interchange, a retirement village & fitness centre. The site is located on Ferodale Rd, cnr Abundance Rd & is expected to generate circa 380 jobs on completion.
Despite this development being so obviously needed in Medowie, we have not been able to convince the Council Planners of the merits of the proposal.
The Draft Medowie Strategy is a flawed document. It will not deliver what Medowie needs. We have identified several failings in our submission which has been lodged with Council. If anyone would like a copy of that document please email me johnb@advocatedevelopments.com.au & we will gladly send you a copy.
Remember the exhibition of the Draft Medowie Strategy closes 7th June.
