Roads, Footpaths and Drainage
Council provides key physical infrastructure and services such as the construction and maintenance of roads, footpaths, and drainage. Do you have any comments about the proposed Roads, Footpaths and Drainage construction and maintenance program for 2008-09?

5The maitenance of roads, and footpaths is of great importance. It would be also great to see council considering cycleways when building new roads or in the maitenance of existing roads to ensure that the shoulder is also maintained in a condition that is safe for cyclists to use.

4I agree but think cycleways need to be provided away from roads. I am not a cyclist myself but would not let my kids out on the streets because of the danger of traffic. I also think cyclists are a bit of a pest on the road. better all round if special paths are built.

1We live in St. Clair, Bennett Rd, 254. You talk about all the money spent on road. Bennett rd is now the crossway of very big trucks, construction double trucks, Woolworth delivery trucks, etc.....From a quiet street many years ago we are on a speedway, on a road never really maintained or rebult. Young are now speedind, and reving with their cars. This road is full of holes, whites bands are disapearing. Do you include Bennett rd. in your plan ?
John A Meyer, with thanks.

0There should be more restrictions on where trucks can drive

3Over the last 8 years we have complained about the walk through lane way beside our house. Myself and my neighbors have also complained to council regarding the graffiti, theft, vandalism, human and dog fesses. We offered to purchase the lane way from council, mid way through last year stickers and information pamphlets where distributed to us, stating the council had decided to close the lane way due to the complaints. three months later we received another pack from council, this time stating that council has decided to installing metal barriers to stop motorbikes accessing the lane way, to which you never see or hear. For some reason council has decided not to sell the lane way to its rate payers, as to the graffiti, theft, vandalism, human and dog fesses, it would appear that we as rate payers have to continue to be subjected to this, which is being caused by the council lane way, and one that could be easily resolved.

3Most of the roads in Penrith CBD are of poor quality, especially High Street. I have seen that there is some planned maintanence of High Street, but it should be the entire lenght of the road. Not just a section of it.

3A lot of Roads in the CBD & older suburbs of St Marys; Lemongrove; Emu Plains need to be pulled up and started again, widened for more lanes and safety.
Repairing them only ends up in more pot holes, you want a modern city - get on with it.
Concrete footpaths need to be better as the more recent ones are already cracking and causing trip spots.Properly maintain the grassy footpaths, flatten and smooth them - council owns all the footpaths & nature strips, so it's time to fix and stop procrastinating.

0I dont think we should have more lanes for cars. More lanes for cyclists and public transport sure. I do agree many of the roads need upgrading though and the paths are pretty bad in places.
