Special Rate Increase for Infrastructure Improvements
In 2007/08 Council requested and the Minister approved a special rate increase on the basis that the City's infrastructure needed an extraordinary funding boost to address its deteriorating condition. These rates have been collected for 9 months and there is no apparent change in the level of infrastructure activity going on in the city.
What has been achieved?
Or are the extra funds all going to be re-allocated to pay for the Newcastle Baths blow-out, the investment black hole, the ten new strategic planners etc etc ?

I think that is a reasonable question. May be council officers can place a list on this site showing what has been done, what was done with the extra funds and the cost. It would also be interesting to see the funds now required to meet the infrastructure needs. Is it now less than or greater than $134m?

Where is the response from the Council?

i suggest you report this to the DG of the Dept Local Government and the Minister. The DLG is keeping a close watch on NCC at the moment. This website is aan example of NCC refusing to consult with the community as required under the Act.
