We live in a cul-de-sac and have had a truck parked out the front of our house for 4 months that has not been moved once, that is just under the tare weight, so the council says it is allowed to stay there forever. There is very limited parking in a cul-de-sac and the truck is taking it all up and I feel the council should at least come and look at the situation before they make their decisions. I think they need to be flexible both ways when making their rules.

Under the circumstances perhaps someone should approach the owner & attempt to resolve the problem . If it is not your truck then perhaps it should not be parked in front of your house

I agree with Bones611 why penalise me for what someone else does I live one street away from the railway line. Trains rattle past day & night,Ambulances sirens & Police chasing Hoons,Twenty tonne garbage trucks at 4am.Why belly ache about some poor feller trying to make an honest living

I feel dumping a truck for months on end out the front of a neighbours house is not making a living.

Most of us are trying to make an honest living,it is just some of us who think that the community and Council owe them the right to turn what should be peaceful residential areas into industrial zones. It is very simple, if you make the choice in your life to drive/own a truck then don't park it in the residential area. It is so easy for these narrow minded people to make excuses for their lives and expect the greater community to cater for them. It is time to wake up you truckies...get a real job or park your trucks where they are supposed to be..in an industrial area or on a large acreage far away from people who care for their environment and neighbours. And of course if you vote against this you are obviously one of them.

Thanks. It is not our truck that is parked out the front of our house and the owner has been approached but to no avail. When he isn't driving the truck he leaves it parked there for months at a time knowing that the council will not do anything about it. We wouldn't mind if it was only for a couple of days or occassionally but months on end is a bit much.

Whether it is a barking dog, noisy car, a truck parked in the wrong place, we all need to be considerate of our neighbors. And if that is not possible the council needs to deal with each INDIVIDUAL issue in a quick and fair manner, after all isn’t that why we pay our rates? Also they shouldn’t be punishing people doing the right thing, aren’t we all innocent until proven guilty?
Comment 1.2.1 24 Jul 2009, 9:00 PM
I TOTALLY agree with what you are saying.
Comment 1.2.2 27 Jul 2009, 9:59 AM
I agree, it is an INDIVIDUAL issue. A smaller truck (not a semi and trailer) should be allowed to be parked ON MY OWN PROPERTY. Most cars in my neighbourhood make more noise than my truck. Who gets the benefit of the $900 application fee? Only the council, not the neighbourhood, that's for sure.

I agree there are limits to parking in certain areas and the person responsible should be approached to solve this problem.. Other people do the correct thing and buy land to be able to park their vehicles safely

I'm in the same situation. A truck just under 4.5t which parks permanently on the footpath. It looks ugly and brings down the street. Last week someone in the street put cling wrap around the truck and 3 other vehicles owned by that person which also appear on the footpath. Amusing but it does show that people have had enough. Council needs to have more power to deal with trucks under 4.5t.

I agree and hope the council change their 'rules' and deal with trucks of all sizes doing the wrong thing. People just continually push the limits and get away with it without any concern for their neighbours.

NO....
i repeat NO....
the size of a truck does not matter.
my view is that if a truck is
1) parked inside the property
2) only used in daylight hours
then leave it alone. the majority of us are small business operators and are responsible owners. If a few bad apples upset their neighbors deal with them. Leave me alone.....
I will not pay 1 cent to anyone to park any vehicle on my property. note that MY PROPERTY!!!! next thing caravans and boats will be targeted by this ridiculous money hungry council.
Comment 2.1 23 Jul 2009, 5:36 PM
This truck is not parked inside the owners property but parked outside the front of my property permanently.
Comment 2.1.1 23 Jul 2009, 6:16 PM
then that truck should be dealt with.
my position is if it is parked inside the property.
i agree that your neighbor is doing the wrong thing.
truck owners need to be considerate of their neighbors which i am.
Comment 2.1.1.1 23 Jul 2009, 9:35 PM
Thanks. My neighbor isn't as considerate as you are and unfortunatley isn't approachable.
Comment 2.2 29 Jul 2009, 10:11 AM
I have an issue with those who park on the street permanently. Very inconsiderate.

Tare weight I find a joke. we have neighbours that have 2 trucks both are 3.8t tare weight yet the truck can take 10-12 t fully loaded, so the neighbour loads the trucks and parks it on there property full loaded. GVM should be the weight the council uses.
