Total waste of Money Projects
What I really dislike and should not be funded in the Management Plan process is the items and activities that are a gross waste of money and scarse resources. To me items of waste should be cut from the Management Plan in order to make Council operations more efficient and cost effective.

How is this for a great waste of funds and resources.
Why does NCC need to employ a consultant? Does council not have suitably skilled people?
Direct from the NCC web site today.
"Newcastle City Council will be conducting an audit of residents’ kerbside waste bins to see what types of waste are discarded and determine how effective recycling campaigns have been.
Waste will be collected from the bins of a small number of randomly selected households across the Council area between 31 March and 4 April 2008.
Waste Services Manager ROB CROOK says Newcastle residents are diligent recyclers, but there is always room for improvement.
“The audit will help Council get a picture of our resident’s disposal behaviour – such as what is not recycled and what is thrown out in their green wheelie bin.
“The information will help Council improve its waste services and infrastructure, enable us to test the effectiveness of our recycling service and plan improvement strategies for the future,” said Mr Crook.
Selected households have not been notified to avoid resident’s changing their waste disposal behaviours. Collection will take place from the kerbside on normal waste collection days (but may be outside normal collection hours).
“Council has engaged a consultant who will be collecting and bagging waste. Conditions of the project prohibit public reporting of any specific details relating to the waste collected from households. Information collected will only being used in an aggregated form,” said Mr Crook."
