What additional recreational facilities or open space would you like to see more of in Willoughby?

For example, swimming facilities, playing fields, playgrounds, bush trails, paved cycle ways, parkland, athletics facilities, BMX / skate park, mountain bike trails

Better trails for Off Road cycling, such as mountain bike trails and better BMX tracks. There are a lot of off-road cyclists on the lower north shore but most have to travel to either the Northern Beaches or West to use these facillities

I agree with Chuckie. There are not many legal mountain bike parks/trails in the area with many people having to travel outside of the Sydney area to use these. Manly Dam trails are a good example of how these can work. Possibilities could be Downhill oriented tracks, Cross Country tracks, BMX facilities, and dirt jumps. I see many young (and older) kids with bikes these days and they need places to ride and play instead of them getting in to trouble with Police or playing computer games.

The increased population (20,000?)since the leisure centre was built warrants a serious aquatic centre with a 50 metre pool.It is impossible to expect one 25 metre pool to be suitable for all the varied user groups. In the meantime, it would help if the lifeguards ensured that swimmers obey the lane speed signs as the lifeguards do at North Sydney Pool.

Marg is right, you only have to see the numbers using pool areas mornings, evenings and weekends to realise it. The learn to swim, squad and public lanes are all overcrowded! Lane cove and Ryde have much larger facilities.

As with lane cove we really need separate 50m and 25m pools plus a "play pool' for the little kids

I agree with Marg. I am tired of being squashed into 3 or 4 lanes, all of varying speed, so that aquarobics can take up the rest of the pool. It has resulted in me swimming almost never, unless I go to Lane Cove. Also, being the mother of trained competitive swimmers, there is a real need for a 50m pool in the area...the longer laps make for much better training than 25m. Willoughby's population size would certainly support a proper aquatic centre.

I agree that there should be better swimming facilities in Willoughby. The current pool is inadequate to cater for serious swimmers and is not ideally situated. I have to go to Lane Cove 5 days a week to get a decent swim. I suggest a 50M pool in Chatswood Central/West would help the situation.

I agree with Marg, as I find many people have now moved into the willougby areas that used to use the city and north sydney 50 metre pools, it would be great to have an outdoor 50 metre pool available in willoughby that is open all year round. Lane Cove is a lovely pool but it closes during winter. In the city pools they would also have a weekly/biweekly short bialthalon - which was always a great way of getting out.
