The Shore sporting fields also add to the congestion in the area.
Encouraging alternative forms of transport would be the most effective approach. The approaches could be:
1. increased off road cycle paths to both bicentennial and the Shore Sporting ovals e.g. along Marlborough St and connecting into more off road cycle paths - off road cycle path are importing because alot of the players are young.
2. Use a loop bus timed to arrived before games commence and leave after games end -stopping at a train station and major shopping centres.
3. Make the car park only for cars carrying at least 5 passengers - this will encouragecaring pooling and reduce traffic
4. Make the car parking limit on the near by streets half an hour only

Unrealistic! The vast majority of sports users here are kids. They will travel by car with their parents no matter what.
What council should be doing is trying to minimise congestion not remove parking

1. Addressing the bigger issue of climate change adaptation, I would encourage Council to see this traffic management issue @ WLC as part of an integrated LGA wide strategy for promoting more sustainable neighbourhood level transport which promotes mode-shift to short trip walking, cycling and use of pooled transport options to reduce congestion and road safety conflicts
2. this is not so much an isolated local traffic/parking problem but an example of how Sydneysiders might reconsider our patterns of driving, walking and cycling behaviours - this problem occurs in most Sydney LGAs at most sports facilities on most weekends
3. I now try to walk to netball with my daughter (about 20 min from home) so she gets a pre-match warm up, I get some exercise (and talk time) and we both make a small difference to reducing our personal C02 emissions and local traffic congestion
4. Council should augment conventional traffic management solutions with a community behaviour change strategy to promote more sustainable and climate-friendly transport linked to a reward and incentives program aimed at active engagement with local sports teams and our schools

Shore sporting fields add significantly to congestion. Mostly because there is virtually no off street parking for the army of four wheel drive vehicles. The half that don't park on the street use Northbridge plaza parking.
Until Shore can provide off street parking for most of its visitors, major sports functions should not occur on the same day for both Shore and Netball.
