There have been a lot of suggestions and opinions on what could be changed about the proposed network, but I'm curious as to what people like about the proposed changes? Keep putting suggestions in the other sections of the site, just put down what you think is better here.

The bus I use to get to and from the CBD has been streamlined in part according to the map on this site and it should make for a quicker journey, so that's great. I think it's a big ask to try and satisfy everyone - whatever type of public transport they use - but reckon Newcastle Buses should be commended for doing a great job with the strategic corridors approach.

The strategic corridors are a good idea - but Route 321 along Bayview St does not serve an area of much need and reduces services through Windale, an area of great public transport need. Route 320 should be every 30m (at least) and be extended from Warners Bay to Cardiff Station(for an east Lake Macquarie train connection) and on to Glendale shopping centre. Route 321 should be a local service Charlestown to Belmont.

GDB, a better idea would be to extend 321 from Warners Bay to Speers Pt via The Esplanade, but their is one better idea that would beat this or any bus review, and that is...

I am a Broadmeadow resident who uses buses every day for work and transport in general as do not drive and do not like the changes as we will lose direct and fast routes Broadmeadow is a central amd mager area as we have a connecting train station do not take or change 226 349 or 322 routes add faster direct routes for outlying areas do not take current services away.

How many times can you say the one thing, over and over?? I think you'd suffer with any change! And I made the point that I'd like to see this section left for POSITIVE comments only. Pity to see that's already failed.

I WILL KEEP SAYING IT AS YES I WILL SUFFER IF I LOSE THE SERVICES I HAVE AS REQIRE THE SERVICES HAVE NOW YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND MY CIRCUMSTANCES AND I HAVE A RIGHT TO HAVE MY SAY YOU MAY NOT DEPEND ON THE SERVICES LIKE I DO SO WORRY ABOUT YOUR OWN NEEDS AND LET ME EXPRESS MY NEEDS WHICH HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU I AM LETTING THE BUS NETWORK REVEIW WHAT I NEED TO TELL THEM AND I SUPPORT WHAT I AM BEING TOLD BY RESIDENTS OF BROADMEADOW

COMMENT FROM ADMINISTRATOR
Guys, I have been enjoying both your contributions but am getting a little concerned that this is degenerating into a negative arguement.
Snugglepot - we hear you and others loud and clear on the Broadmeadow issue and this will be raised in the report prepared from the feedback on this site. Feel free to keep raising the issue but please try and stay relevant to the discussion thread you are in.
Man3668, we understand your frustration but please accept that this is a consultation and people are allowed to hold and express strong views that may not align with your own.
I hope to read more from both of you soon. Thanks for using Bang the Table.

• Mostly straigtening out our route, having direct access to Waratah station, although it could be still improved in some areas.
• Re-introducing more of a direct from Newcastle - Warners Bay via Charlestown.
• Re-introducing direct services from Charlestown to Adamstown station.
• I'm not sure if it's just due to restrictions on the map, but if it's not, it's good to see Marketown buses going up King Street, instead of around the block at Marketown.
Admin, I have to agree with Man3668, about leaving this area for postive comments.
Comment 3.1 28 Nov 2007, 11:59 AM
Thanks NFlyer. I enquired about the Marketown route, and yes, they are proposed to go along King Street direct. This will save a lot of time for through travellers.
Comment 3.1.1 28 Nov 2007, 5:16 PM
I enquired today, at a meeting, and yes the STA is trying to go along King St. But would you believe that some at the meeting saying using King St would be too inconvienent to access Marketown! In my opinion, they should be getting this done as soon as possible, and change the existing Marketown routes direct along King St.
• Another positive is possibly some express &/or limited routes, and not just on the Swansea routes either, they may introduce express or limiteds to other areas, such as Wallsend.

Hi Again NFlyer - yes I agree this thread is clearly for positive comments. I did try to ask Snugglepot to stay relevant to the thread and it seems to have worked. My comment to Man3668 was simply becasue I felt the discussion was getting a bit too personal, I was not disagreeing with the desirability of respecting the discussion theme. Perhaps I could have been clearer.
Also we have ntoed your requests for an edit/review function. This is something we will be developing but I hope you appreciate these things do not happen overnight.

I have here in front of me the flyer delivered to my letterbox titled 'Proposal to update the bus network'. It comments on Advantages and benefits, but in all stories, there are two sides to a story! Why omit disadvantages from this pamphlet? Is it simply because in the proposal there has not been enough research to know the IMPACT on residents and how they will be disadvantaged? Or is it to lie to us poor Newcastle residents once again?
Regards,
Public Transport User (who know has to set aside an extra 3 hours of the day to travel on poorly timetabled interchanges with 3 buses and one train)
