What do you think of the draft recommendations arising from the Transport Forum?

by TBwoll 31 Jul 2009, 5:03pm

Wollondilly Council has developed 10 draft recommendations from the information provided by participants at the Wollondilly Transport Forum as well as those who participated in the community engagement process leading up to the forum on June 11. The summary table lists the draft recommendations and outlines the proposed timeframes and potential impact on Council resources. You are encouraged to take some time to review the draft recommendations and consider what partnerships should be formed to deliver the proposed outcomes.

This online discussion forum has concluded. You can still browse the site but the discussion area will no longer accept new comments or votes.

Thanks to all for this great opportunity to be engaged at various levels of debate towards a MEANINGFUL set of outcomes for public transport in Wollondilly Shire.

Public has been omitted from various branding, and although there has been the strongest emphasis on public transport, it must be stressed we are not talking transport generally.

In relation to the various outcomes, I'd like to say my disappointment in the strategy relating to SHARED CYCLEWAYS AND PATHWAYS. The path and cycle we have experienced is not moving this debate forward and still the ROADS expenditure is in its millions as per usual.

Re: recommendation 5

I suggest that it would be both more useful and cost effective to investigate having the highest quality data available to bigger transport planning websites, rather than develop one which is restricted to Wollondilly.

By this I mean get in touch with the likes of 131500.info, Google Maps, etc., and find out how to send them data so that integrated, cross-council transport searching can be done across all modes. This needs to include private buses (even those marked as school runs which still accept all passengers) if you are ever going to raise the appalling level of local bus utilisation.

Integrating with larger cross-council sites is especially relevant with such a high proprtion of travel being to outside the area.

Good suggestions here, we can integrate a range of transport options and better still we can also inform public as to how to use the technology available to utilise these options more effectively.
