Weekly Drilling Updates

To provide you with regular project information, Shenhua will upload weekly drilling updates onto the website.

This information will include:

  • The number of drill rigs on site;
  • Metres drilled each week
  • Total metres drilled for the project;
  • Total number of holes drilled;
  • Depth drilled; and
  • Volume of waste taken to Council.

Shenhua Watermark will be carrying out Electrical Resistivity Survey and Seismic Reflection Survey within the Watermark Exploration Lease in the coming weeks.

Drilling on Road Verges

Drilling on road verges

Exploration drilling may take place on the road verges along The Dip Road and Nea Siding Road in the coming months.

Expected hours of drilling operation will be 6.00 am to 6.00 pm every day, with no work to be undertaken on Public Holidays without consent being first obtained from Council and surrounding neighbours.

Shenhua Submission - Inquiry into Food Production

Shenhua Watermark Coal Pty Limited (Shenhua) provided a submission to the Select Committee on Agricultural and Related Industries’ Inquiry into food production in Australia on 12 October 2009.

New Contact Details

The past month has been an exciting time for the Shenhua Watermark Project. The Review of Environmental Factors for exploration has been approved, exploration drilling has commenced, and the Gunnedah-based management team has grown with the appointment of a new Communications Manager.

Having worked on the project as a consultant for the past six months, Melanie Layton has accepted a permanent role as Communications Manager for the Watermark Project. It is a significant step for Shenhua with Melanie being only the second non-Chinese employee appointed since setting up office in Australia.

First Watermark Community Information Session- 26th March 2009

Watermark held its first Community Information Session on Thursday 26th March 2009 at the Breeza Community Hall.  More than 180 landholders and community members attended the session. The aim of the session was to provide the community with as much information as possible and answer the community’s many questions.

Independent facilitators, Hollier and Hart have prepared a report of the session which will be available in the library section of this website, once it has been finalised. Hard copies will also available on request.
